How much capacity do you need?

Real charges are a little lower than the number suggests because some energy is lost as heat. That is normal for every brand.

What features matter most?

• Fast charging. Look for PD or a watt rating such as 20W or 22.5W. Your phone must support fast charging too.
• Built in cables. Very handy in Sri Lanka where people share chargers between iPhone and Android.
• Digital display. Shows the exact battery percentage left.
• Magnetic wireless. Snaps onto MagSafe iPhones, no cable needed.
• Protection. Over heating, over charge and short circuit protection.

Can you take a power bank on a flight?

Most airlines allow power banks under 100Wh in hand luggage only. A 10000mAh power bank is about 37Wh and a 20000mAh power bank about 74Wh, so both are usually fine. Power banks are not allowed in checked luggage. Always check the rules of your airline before you fly.

How do you make a power bank last longer?

• Recharge it before it reaches zero.
• Keep it out of direct sun and hot cars.
• Use a good cable and charger to refill it.
• If it swells or gets very hot, stop using it.
